"The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was created under the National Security Act of 1947, which President Truman signed on July 26, 1947. The CIA officially came into existence on September 18th that same year, which is when we celebrate our birthday.
With the passage of the 1947 Act, Truman achieved his goals of modernizing and unifying America’s armed services, and, by creating a centralized intelligence agency, reformed our intelligence capabilities. To protect American’s civil liberties, he made sure to clearly divide intelligence roles between domestic and foreign: FBI would handle anything domestic, while CIA was limited to foreign intelligence only. Furthermore, the Act specified that CIA would have no police, subpoena, or law enforcement powers.
President Truman appointed Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter as the first CIA director, known as the Director of Central Intelligence. He had been the Director of one of our immediate “ancestors,” called the Central Intelligence Group. The CIG was a bureaucratic anomaly with no independent budget, no statutory mandate, and staffers assigned from other departments of the government. America needed a peacetime, centralized intelligence agency with its own budget and mandate. That’s why Truman replaced the CIG and created the CIA.

Operation Mockingbird is an alleged large-scale program of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that began in the early years of the Cold War and attempted to manipulate domestic American news media organizations for propaganda purposes. According to author Deborah Davis, Operation Mockingbird recruited leading American journalists into a propaganda network and influenced the operations of front groups. CIA support of front groups was exposed when an April 1967 Ramparts article reported that the National Student Association received funding from the CIA.[1] In 1975, Church Committee Congressional investigations revealed Agency connections with journalists and civic groups.
In 1973, a document referred to as the "Family Jewels"[2] was published by the CIA containing a reference to "Project Mockingbird", which was the name of an operation in 1963 which wiretapped two journalists who had published articles based on classified material.[3] The document does not contain references to "Operation Mockingbird".[4]

In 1952, retired chicken incubator salesman George W. Church Sr. opened the first Church's Chicken, named Church's Fried Chicken To-Go, in San Antonio, Texas.[6][7]
Initially, Church's Chicken was a single walk-up establishment[8] that only sold fried chicken.[9] Two pieces of chicken and a roll cost 49 cents.[9] Church's Chicken added fries and jalapeños to its menu in 1955.[3] To allow customers to see their food prepared while they waited, Church Sr. designed the kitchen with the fryers next to the takeout window.[3]
Early expansion, franchising and sale
The company had four restaurants by the time of Church Sr.'s death in 1956.[3] After his death, family members took over operations. In 1962, with Church Sr.'s son Bill Church Jr. as top executive, there were eight restaurants in San Antonio. To begin expanding and franchising in 1965, Church Jr. and his brother Richard developed a signature marinade that could be prepared at any location. Former vacuum cleaner salesman J. David Bamberger, who first met Church Jr. when he joined Bamberger's vacuum cleaner distributorship,[10] joined Church's Chicken in 1965 to oversee the franchising. In 1967, the chain opened restaurants in five Texan cities outside of San Antonio and operated 17 restaurants in 1968.[4][9]
In 1966, a contract between Church's Fried Chicken, Inc. and Jim Dandy Fast Foods, Inc. gave Jim Dandy the right to use the trade names and trademarks "Church's Fried Chicken" or "Church's" within fifty miles of Houston's city hall and within the city limits of Galveston, Texas for ten years, as long as Church's Chicken received the agreed upon royalties.[11][12]
In 1968, the Church family sold the company, which became incorporated and went public in 1969.[9] By the end of 1968, there were more than 100 Church's Chicken restaurants in seven states, making the chain the first from Texas to become a national one. Between 1969 and 1974, Church's Chicken gained 387 more restaurants.[3][9]
In the late 1970s, the chain briefly operated a hamburger franchise in Texas called G.W. Jrs. The roughly 60 locations were shuttered in 1985.[3]
In 1980, Church Jr. resigned as corporation chairman, and was replaced by childhood friend, Roger Harvin.[4]
In March 1996, Hala Moddelmog was appointed president of Church's Chicken, making her the first female president of a fast food restaurant chain.[13]

90 Church Street is a federal office building in lower Manhattan in New York City. The building houses the United States Postal Service's Church Street Station, which is responsible for the 10007 ZIP code. The building takes up a full block between Church Street and West Broadway and between Vesey and Barclay Streets.
History
90 Church Street was designed by Cross & Cross, Pennington, Lewis & Mills and Louis A. Simon, who was Supervising Architect of the Department of the Treasury at the time. The architectural style of the building is a mixture of Neo-classicism and Art Deco. It has two towers and the facade is clad in limestone. The AIA Guide to New York City described the building as "a boring limestone monolith that has trouble deciding between a heritage of stripped down neo-Classical and a new breath of Art Deco."[2]
The building was completed in 1935.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.[3][4] The building was extensively renovated by Boston Properties, Inc from the early 1990s though 2000 by Architects Swanke Hayden Connell Architects and Brannen Associates.[5]
In addition to housing the Postal Service, the 90 Church Street building contains offices of the New York State Public Service Commission, the New York State Health Department, and the New York City Housing Authority.[4]
September 11 attacks
The building suffered moderate damage during the September 11 attacks due to a remnant of one of the planes and other debris landing on top of the building. Following the collapse of the World Trade Centers twin towers, the building's facade was damaged, windows were broken, the roof was seriously burned and major water damage occurred throughout the internal structure. It was also extensively contaminated with asbestos, lead dust, fungi, fiberglass dust, mercury, and bacteria.[4] The building was entirely engulfed by dust after the collapse of both buildings, respectively, and was further damaged when Building 7 collapsed later the same day. There was no major structural damage.[6] During recovery efforts at Ground Zero, the United States Postal Service worked to return individual pieces of mail found by rescue workers to the addressees.[7] In August 2004, the Church Street Station Post Office reopened, and mail was once again being processed there.[8] Church Street Station also serves the 10007 ZIP code, covering portions of Battery Park City, Tribeca, and Civic Center.

Pope Francis arrived today at the site of the Sept. 11 terror attacks for what was called a "multi-religious gathering."
He was far from the only religious leader present, as Cardinal Timothy Dolan was to introduce the pontiff. But there are also Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and other leaders involved in the ceremony.
Pope Francis said a prayer and laid a white rose at the slabs of names of victims by one of the two reflecting pools. He then met with several relatives of first responders who died in the attack, as well as former New York City Mayors Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The group then went into the museum's great hall, located at the bedrock of the building, where a prayer service was held and Pope Francis gave a short speech. He started his remarks by apologizing, in English, that he would be saying the rest of the speech in Spanish.
"I feel many different emotions standing here at Ground Zero, where thousands of lives were taken in a senseless act of destruction. Here grief is palpable," he said.
Before his visit, museum curator Jan Ramirez gave ABC News an overview of the tour that the pontiff would receive during his visit.
The backdrop for the interfaith service of peace is the surviving retaining wall of the original World Trade Center.
The pope will skip the rooms that recount the day and enter the historical exhibition space in the room that houses artifacts from the aftermath.
The dominant object is the World Trade Center Cross, steel wreckage in the shape of a cross excavated from World Trade Center 6 that became a focal point for recovery workers, and where a Franciscan priest offered Mass every Sunday on West Street in front of the cross during recovery work on the pile. A piece of aluminum duct work sits atop the cross like a shroud.

In Pope Francis’ encyclical, “Laudato Si’, mi’ Signore” (“Praise be to you, my Lord”): On The Common Care Of Our Home,[1]the Pope identifies himself as “the Holy Father,” and as a Christian. Nevertheless, Francis teaches the following in this encyclical,
“In the words of this beautiful canticle, Saint Francis of Assisi reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us. ‘Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with colored flowers and herbs.’”
Is Francis endorsing the idea that the earth “governs us” rather than the Lord? Nowhere in the Bible is the earth called “Mother” or “sister.” This is demonic theology rooted in the “mystery religion” of Babylon. Anthropomorphizing the earth, especially as female, has always been a mark of pagan and Satanic worship. As Alexander Hislop points out,
“It has been known all along that Popery was baptized Paganism; but God is now making it manifest, that the Paganism which Rome has baptized is, in all its essential elements, the very Paganism which prevailed in the ancient literal Babylon…”[2]
Pope Francis is first and foremost a Jesuit. As a Jesuit, he is known to be cunning as a fox. In the third paragraph of the encyclical, he clearly specifies a crisis and targets his intended audience. “Now, faced as we are with global environmental deterioration, I wish to address every person living on this planet…about our common home.”[3] It remains to be seen, then, why Pope Francis has so early in his reign come forth with a statement of gross paganism as part of his supposedly Christian world view.
Biblical Truth
The truth is that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. As the Bible states, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”[4] These foundational words aside, Francis has chosen instead to quote twelfth century Catholic St. Francis’s pagan understanding of the issue. Therefore, it cannot be by accident that Pope Francis has chosen to cover his papacy in the supposedly benign robes of Francis of Assisi.
Basic Untruth
A major fact to be considered is that Pope Francis believes in his absolute authority. As his own Roman Church teaching proclaims that the Supreme Pontiff, in virtue of his office possesses infallible teaching authority.[5] However, the reality is that Jesus Christ alone possesses all power and teaching authority, as Christ Himself proclaimed, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”[6] Thus does Jesuit Francis, having first covered himself in the pagan mantel of Francis of Assisi, attempt to usurp divine authority in a claim that is totally counterfeit. Another example of this Roman Catholic counterfeited authority by Pope Francis is seen in the following.
Francis professes to impart Christ by Masses and the Holy Spirit by Sacraments, including his current idea that “As Christians, we are also called ‘to accept the world as a sacrament of communion, as a way of sharing with God and our neighbors on a global scale.’”[7] Where is there any evidence of scriptural truth and the Gospel in this spiritually blind papal teaching? The Scripture commands each man to repent and believe the Gospel, but no man can do this without the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Yet these elementary facts are silently set aside as the Pope expands his argument by stating that the Papacy’s worldview is relevant for today. However, his teaching ends up in totalitarianism.
Francis starts with our supposed sin against “sister earth,” as the encyclical states, and moves in an entirely unbiblical direction,
“‘This sister’ (the earth) ‘now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on her by our irresponsible use and abuse of the goods with which God has endowed her. We have come to see ourselves as her lords and masters, entitled to plunder her at will. The violence present in our hearts, wounded by sin, is also reflected in the symptoms of sickness evident in the soil, in the water, in the air and in all forms of life.”[8]
Francis’s stated view is utterly pantheistic. The Bible states,
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.” [9]
The Bible states the facts. Contrarily, Francis teaches that the heaven and earth are parts of the Lord God. This is utter pagan philosophy.
Pope Francis’s Cunning Conjectures
What must be understood is that Francis’ encyclical, with its elevated and inspiring tone in pursuit of ethical excellence, is heavily laden with all the classical assumptions of the Papacy. Principally, what is being presented in the encyclical is an idealized plan for the world. It is based on the Vatican’s view of both what the world presently is, and what it could be, as if the Pope were the temporal “lord-director” of all things spiritual, political, and economic.
The whole argument of the encyclical hangs upon the veracity of its alleged self-evident axioms. However, the assumptions are false.
If Pope Francis wants to be a prophetic voice in the modern world, allegedly speaking on Christ’s behalf, then his assumptions must be evaluated according to the measure given in the Word of God, namely, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”[10]
The Lord Jesus Christ was emphatic that Scripture is absolute truth, that it cannot be refuted. As Scripture states, “Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying; ‘All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.’”[11] Thus, from the outset, it becomes clear that Pope Francis is an impostor with an objective.
Francis conceals one important point in this encyclical. Since the Council of Trent in the mid-sixteenth century, the Roman Church has held that there is no salvation outside the Roman Catholic Church. Indeed, Rome formally denied the Gospel. Thus, Rome formally went apostate at the Council of Trent.
The Roman Catholic Church has never revoked the Council of Trent. Thus rather than the Gospel to make one right before Holy God, Rome has only sacraments to offer. These do not deliver salvation, for it is only “the gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth….”[12]
Therefore the Papacy must take in hand another tool, it must find another route by which to snare people into the folds of Modern Babylon. Dialogue on environmental issues is Rome’s latest scheme.
Near the end of the encyclical, there is much religious talk about God and the duty of Christians. But this is in fact only a postscript to the encyclical. The real thrust of the encyclical is promotion of a political agenda couched in pagan terms. It cannot be otherwise because in its conception, objective and method, it stands contrary to Scripture.
In face of this the Lord Jesus Christ’s message to those who are His own is totally different. He proclaims,
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” [13]
Following on this message is the assurance that those who by grace alone believe on Christ alone through faith alone, i.e., the true spiritual family of people across the globe, are the real family of God. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” [14] As presented in the Gospel, those who by God’s grace alone through faith alone believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone, have been declared “sons of God” through the Lord Jesus Christ’s perfect life and sacrifice. As the Apostle Paul proclaimed, “…you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”[15]
Pope Francis’s Agenda
Throughout the encyclical Francis’s environmental theme cannot be ignored. With over one hundred seventy references to global warming, climate change, environment and environmental issues, it is clear this is the means to his end. While we are rightly concerned with what Francis is saying, it is also imperative to grasp why he is saying it. Francis’s encyclical is not in any sense a labor of original thought. Both his analytical style and argumentative form are firmly grounded in the Vatican’s preeminent sense of its own self-importance and presumed lordship over every aspect of human life.
Francis exhaustively demonstrates that his views truly represent the historical essence of Rome’s religious and social teaching. However, that teaching is not the teaching of the Bible. Thus, Francis shows himself again to be a cunning fox. His objective is to firmly ground his institution’s own welfare and future in terms of an “integral human development” that acknowledges his primacy as the sole arbiter of ethics and moral order. It is quite clear that Francis is writing his encyclical to assert once again the Papacy’s autocratic claims. The aim of Francis in this encyclical is to propound and promote a type of world government.
Specifically, he envisions a renewed and rejuvenated “globalized society” over which the Roman Church rules as the principal ethical entity. And what better way to gain moral authority but by weaving together environmental activism based upon global warming and climate change synthesized by modern “science falsely so called.”[16] Truly it is a cunning plan to solidify a political base with the non-religious left, thereby creating a harmonious Church and Global State.
The ecumenical activity since the early days of Vatican II has been extremely successful in unifying the religious right under Papal dominance. If this continues, it is just a matter of time before all are ushered in to another chapter of the Dark Ages.
The term “globalize” is used forty-six times in this document. In the terms of the argument, it is meant to reinforce not merely the concept of an inevitable necessary global synthesis but to generate in his words a “just and sustainable economic order.” Part of Francis’s agenda is the development of an increasingly globalized society by the nations seeking for “the common good” of all. But because “there is none righteous, no not one…there is none that doeth good, no not one” [15] and “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,”[16] there is no such thing as “the common good” on a collective basis such as the Pope is promoting. Rather in the Bible, the ultimate end of man is to glorify God through the appreciation and adoration of His Son Jesus Christ to the complete satisfaction of our souls. In the Bible, it is on an individual basis that through the commitment to the whole counsel of God we glory and find our good. Therefore His revealed will in His Word is the only standard of good for rational creatures. “There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.”[17]
The emphasis on economics is such that Pope Francis mentions the concept eighty five times. This is the same Francis and his Vatican system which teach that private property is not personal as such, but belongs to all people.[18] A Vatican Council II document upholds the same principle of the “universal ownership of all goods” and emphatically teaches, “If one is in extreme necessity, he has the right to procure for himself what he needs out of the riches of others.”[19] Pope Francis’s philosophy is simply a justification for theft, whether on an individual level or a governmental level. The Bible states, “Thou shall not steal…. Thou shall not covet… any thing that is thy neighbor’s.”[20] Instead, people should be looking to the Father in heaven and His Word to learn biblical stewardship of their money and property. Catholics, and now nations across the world, are being exhorted to look to Pope Francis and his encyclical as a sure path for resuscitation of the international economy. Biblical principles of divine justice, property rights, and equivalent value exchange economics needed for stability and well being of nations, are negated by Francis’s economic policies.
Real Legal Power to Implement the Pope’s Agenda
Francis’s predecessor, Benedict XVI, called for “a reform of the United Nations Organization, and likewise of economic institutions and international finance, so that the concept of the family of nations can acquire real teeth.”[21] Social and religious dominance, upheld and maintained by means of civil law throughout the European nations, is what the Catholic Church enjoyed and thrived on throughout the Dark Ages and Middle Ages. It is to that same end which Francis now moves. Listing global warming, pollution, poverty, global inequality, over-consumption by first world nations and like issues, he states,
“These situations have caused sister earth, along with all the abandoned of our world, to cry out, pleading that we take another course. Never have we so hurt and mistreated our common home as we have in the last two hundred years. Yet we
are called to be instruments of God our Father, so that our planet might be what he desired when he created it and correspond with his plan for peace, beauty and fullness. The problem is that we still lack the culture needed to confront this crisis.”
After personifying the earth, Francis moves smoothly to state, “[To commit] crime against the natural world is a sin against ourselves and a sin against God.”[22] He then calls for “[t]he establishment of a legal framework[,] which can set clear boundaries and ensure the protection of ecosystems[,] has become indispensable….”[23] His solution of changing the culture by his enforced legal prescriptions rather than evangelizing the world with the true Gospel of grace is absolutely unbiblical, but it fits seamlessly into the ongoing papal agenda.
Moreover, the Roman Catholic Church has much influence in the formulation and implementation of national and international laws, particularly in the nations in which she has papal nuncios as ambassadors. At present, she maintains diplomatic relations with one hundred seventy-four countries at embassy level. Expediency, deceit, and cunning have always been defining elements of the Roman Church’s geopolitical pronouncements.
Pope Francis and his Vatican desire to maintain official diplomatic relationships. Their understanding is that political civil power is subordinate to the spiritual control of apostate Rome. Pope Francis, the present necessary and willing instrument, is seeking to fulfill these aspirations and objectives.
Conclusion
That Francis and his encyclical are intent on ruling religious, political and economic activities worldwide should not be surprising. Papal arrogance tallies well with Scripture’s prediction for such claims, “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”[24] There can be but one Vicar of Christ who is infinite, supreme, omnipotent, and all sufficient; namely, the Holy Spirit. The Papacy is a demonically energized apostate system that will be judged and utterly condemned by the Lord. [25] Biblical insight apprehends that “the whole world lies in wickedness”[26] and, “the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand.”[27]
The Papal program is wicked and willful, and its genius in means and method, satanic.[28] From the beginning, the Lord God purposed to glorify Himself “in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without endAmen.” [29] He created the world and formed man for this purpose. His all-wise design was not defeated when Adam and mankind fell, for Jesus Christ the Lord was the Lamb “slain from the foundation of the world.”[30] Almighty God’s will is from eternity, and reigns supreme in time. He sovereignly orders, directs and controls all events. He it is “who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.”[31] Satan and his present neo-Babylonian empire cannot resist Him. It is written, “The Lord reigns; let the people tremble.”[32]
Please join us in prayer that many people will understand this, and that they also would be drawn by God’s Spirit to seek His grace. Grace is unmerited, divine favor. By mercy alone, He saves hell-deserving sinners, demonstrating that all the glory of redeeming power is His alone. Since God works all things after the counsel of His own will, Papal Rome’s modern manipulation of civil power, false ecumenism, and unbiblical economic policies are merely instruments that God for His sovereign purposes has allowed.
We can be sincerely thankful that Almighty God in His supreme wisdom has set limits to the intrigues of Rome. Pope Francis and the Roman Church will be punished for their willful rejection of the Lordship of Christ. The Lord’s people will not be deceived by the powerful delusion that has descended on the world.[33] Rather they “should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” [34] True believers are those who adhere only to God and His written Word: these know that they are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, and that to God solely is due all glory and praise.

Kurt Angle was being coached by Dave Schultz during the time where Schultz was murdered by John du Pont, and he recalled the situation in a recent interview. Du Pont’s murder of Schultz at Foxcatcher Farm in Pennsylvania shocked the nation, and Angle spoke about training at the facility on the True Geordie podcast.

Du Pont suffered from mental health problems and murdered Schultz, who he was employing at the wrestling facility, on January 26th, 1996. The story of du Pont and Schultz was dramatized in the 2008 film Foxcatcher starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo.

Chelsea Old Church, also known as All Saints, is an Anglican church, on Old Church Street, Chelsea, London SW3, England, near Albert Bridge. It is the church for a parish in the Diocese of London, part of the Church of England. Inside the Grade I listed building, there is seating for 400 people. There is a memorial plaque to the author Henry James (1843–1916) who lived nearby on Cheyne Walk, and was buried in Cambridge, Massachusetts. To the west of the church is a small public garden containing a sculpture by Sir Jacob Epstein.
History
Norman origins
Chelsea Old Church dates from 1157.[3] It was formerly the parish church of Chelsea, before it was engulfed by London. The building consisted of a 13th-century chancel with chapels to the north and south (c. 1325) and a nave and tower built in 1670.
16th century and Sir Thomas More

The chapels were private property. The one to the north was called the Lawrence Chapel and was owned by Chelsea's Lord of the Manor. The chapel to the south was rebuilt in 1528 as Sir Thomas More's private chapel. The date can be found on one of the capitals of the pillars leading to the chancel, which were reputedly designed by Hans Holbein the Younger. There is a statue of More by Leslie Cubitt Bevis outside the church, facing the river.
17th century
There is a 1669 memorial to Lady Jane Cheyne. It was designed by the son of Gian Lorenzo Bernini and executed by Gian Lorenzo's favourite sculptor Antonio Raggi.[4]
It is the only London church to have chained books. They were the gift of Sir Hans Sloane, Bt, the Anglo-Irish physician, naturalist collector, Member of the British Parliament and President of the Royal Society. The books consist of a copy of the so-called "Vinegar Bible" of 1717 (containing a misprint of the word 'vineyard'), two volumes of Foxe's Book of Martyrs (1684 edition), a 1723 printing of the Book of Common Prayer and a 1683 edition of The Books of Homilies.
19th century
The church appears in several paintings by James McNeill Whistler and J. M. W. Turner, in all cases little more than distant tower; the church was painted white in the 19th century. For example, the church was depicted in the background of Whistler's Nocturne: Blue and Gold - Old Battersea Bridge, painted c. 1872–1875.
Second World War
The church suffered severe bombing damage during the Blitz of the Second World War on 14 April 1941, in which the church and tower were mostly destroyed by a parachute mine.[2][5] The Thomas More Chapel was least affected. Services were held in the adjoining Cheyne Hospital for nine years.[5]
Restoration and rebuilding
In 1950 the More Chapel was reopened, followed by the chancel and Lawrence Chapel in May 1954, after restoration by the architect Walter Godfrey. It was then listed Grade I on 24 June 1954.[2] In May 1958, the entire church was reconsecrated by the Bishop of London in the presence of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, as it had been restored in its entirety on its old foundations. It looks much as it did before World War II. Many of the tombs and monuments inside were salvaged and reconstructed, almost like jigsaw puzzles.[2] Some original 16th-century stained glass was also preserved.[2]
In 1978, Jack Leslau wrote an article in The Ricardian suggesting that one of the Princes in the Tower survived, namely Edward V of England, and was buried in Chelsea Old Church. His evidence depends on a complex interpretation of a painting by Hans Holbein the Younger. Leslau's website expands on this, but no major academic institution has endorsed the thesis.[6] The social reformer The Baroness Courtney of Penwith is buried in the church.[7]
In 2000, the Museum of London Archaeological Services carried out an archaeological dig at the cemetery.[8]

Oxford
Upon graduating from Georgetown in 1968, Clinton won a Rhodes Scholarship to University College, Oxford, where he initially read for a B.Phil. in philosophy, politics, and economics but transferred to a B.Litt. in politics and, ultimately, a B.Phil. in politics.[24] Clinton did not expect to return for the second year because of the draft and so he switched programs; this type of activity was common among other Rhodes Scholars from his cohort. He had received an offer to study at Yale Law School, and so he left early to return to the United States and did not receive a degree from Oxford.[12][25][26]
During his time at Oxford, Clinton befriended fellow American Rhodes Scholar Frank Aller. In 1969, Aller received a draft letter that mandated deployment to the Vietnam War. Aller's 1971 suicide had an influential impact on Clinton.[24][27] British writer and feminist Sara Maitland said of Clinton, "I remember Bill and Frank Aller taking me to a pub in Walton Street in the summer term of 1969 and talking to me about the Vietnam War. I knew nothing about it, and when Frank began to describe the napalming of civilians I began to cry. Bill said that feeling bad wasn't good enough. That was the first time I encountered the idea that liberal sensitivities weren't enough and you had to do something about such things".[24] Clinton was a member of the Oxford University Basketball Club and also played for Oxford University's rugby union team.[28]
While Clinton was president in 1994, he received an honorary Doctor of Civil Law degree and a fellowship from the University of Oxford, specifically for being "a doughty and tireless champion of the cause of world peace", having "a powerful collaborator in his wife", and for winning "general applause for his achievement of resolving the gridlock that prevented an agreed budget".[25][29]
Vietnam War opposition and draft controversy
During the Vietnam War, Clinton received educational draft deferments while he was in England in 1968 and 1969.[30] While at Oxford, he participated in Vietnam War protests and organized a Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam event in October 1969.[5] He was planning to attend law school in the U.S. and knew he might lose his deferment. Clinton tried unsuccessfully to obtain positions in the National Guard and the Air Force officer candidate school, and he then made arrangements to join the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program at the University of Arkansas.[31][32]
He subsequently decided not to join the ROTC, saying in a letter to the officer in charge of the program that he opposed the war, but did not think it was honorable to use ROTC, National Guard, or Reserve service to avoid serving in Vietnam. He further stated that because he opposed the war, he would not volunteer to serve in uniform, but would subject himself to the draft, and would serve if selected only as a way "to maintain my political viability within the system".[33] Clinton registered for the draft and received a high number (311), meaning that those whose birthdays had been drawn as numbers 1 to 310 would be drafted before him, making it unlikely he would be called up. (In fact, the highest number drafted was 195.)[34]
Colonel Eugene Holmes, the Army officer who had been involved with Clinton's ROTC application, suspected that Clinton attempted to manipulate the situation to avoid the draft and avoid serving in uniform. He issued a notarized statement during the 1992 presidential campaign:
I was informed by the draft board that it was of interest to Senator Fulbright's office that Bill Clinton, a Rhodes Scholar, should be admitted to the ROTC program ... I believe that he purposely deceived me, using the possibility of joining the ROTC as a ploy to work with the draft board to delay his induction and get a new draft classification.[35]
During the 1992 campaign, it was revealed that Clinton's uncle had attempted to secure him a position in the Navy Reserve, which would have prevented him from being deployed to Vietnam. This effort was unsuccessful and Clinton said in 1992 that he had been unaware of it until then.[36] Although legal, Clinton's actions with respect to the draft and deciding whether to serve in the military were criticized during his first presidential campaign by conservatives and some Vietnam veterans, some of whom charged that he had used Fulbright's influence to avoid military service.[37][38] Clinton's 1992 campaign manager, James Carville, successfully argued that Clinton's letter in which he declined to join the ROTC should be made public, insisting that voters, many of whom had also opposed the Vietnam War, would understand and appreciate his position.[39]
Law school
After Oxford, Clinton attended Yale Law School and earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1973.[12] In 1971, he met his future wife, Hillary Rodham, in the Yale Law Library; she was a class year ahead of him.[40] They began dating and were soon inseparable. After only about a month, Clinton postponed his summer plans to be a coordinator for the George McGovern campaign for the 1972 United States presidential election in order to move in with her in California.[41] The couple continued living together in New Haven when they returned to law school.[42]
Clinton eventually moved to Texas with Rodham in 1972 to take a job leading McGovern's effort there. He spent considerable time in Dallas, at the campaign's local headquarters on Lemmon Avenue, where he had an office. Clinton worked with future two-term mayor of Dallas Ron Kirk,[43] future governor of Texas Ann Richards,[44] and then unknown television director and filmmaker Steven Spielberg.[45]

Amphibalus is a venerated early Christian priest said to have converted Saint Alban to Christianity. He occupied a place in British hagiography almost as revered as Alban himself.[1] According to many hagiographical accounts, including those of Gildas, Bede, Geoffrey of Monmouth, and Matthew of Paris, Amphibalus was a Roman Christian fleeing religious persecution under Emperor Diocletian. Amphibalus was offered shelter by Alban in the Roman city of Verulamium, in modern-day England. Alban was so impressed with the priest's faith and teaching that he began to emulate him in worship, and eventually became a Christian himself. When Roman soldiers came to seize Amphibalus, Alban put on Amphibalus' robes and was punished in his place. According to Matthew Paris, after Alban's martyrdom, the Romans eventually caught and martyred Amphibalus as well.
Name and authenticity
Gildas (c. 570), Bede (c. 730) and the three texts of Alban's Passio, going back as far as the 5th century, do not name Amphibalus in their accounts of Alban. They refer to Amphibalus not as a saint but simply as a priest and do not report his martyrdom.[2][3] Amphibalus gained his name and title[1] when Geoffrey of Monmouth wrote his Historia Regum Britanniae (History of the Kings of Britain) in the 12th-century. It is possible that Geoffrey had been repeating a name for the priest that had come into common usage in his time,[4] but it is also possible that Geoffrey misunderstood the Latin word used for the cloak, amphiboles, which was worn by Alban.
Wilhelm Levison[5] noted that the story of the name, which goes back to a 5th-century Passio Albani, is composed of borrowings from other lives of saints and it has, in his words, "no place in the ranks of Acta martyrum sincera; it is a legendary tale...."
Geoffrey of Monmouth
Geoffrey repeated the story of Alban's martyrdom as given by Bede in his famous Historia Regum Britanniae[6] (c. 1136), with the addition of the name of the confessor he shelters, Amphibalus.[7] He recounts a church of Amphibalus at Winchester where King Constantine consigned his son, Constans, to become a monk[8] and where another, later, Constantine killed one of the sons of Mordred.[9] Geoffrey may have gotten the name from Gildas, who describes his contemporary, Constantine, King of Dumnonia, as having dressed in the amphibalo, or 'cloak', of an abbot to murder two royal youths in a church.[10] This could also be the inspiration for Geoffrey's story about the murder of the son of Mordred, and his association of Amphibalus' church with kings called Constantine. How, or why the story about Alban became connected to the story of king Constantine remains somewhat mysterious, but might be an effect of Geoffrey's enterprising imagination, and confusion of sources.

Kevin Matthew Fertig (born January 17, 1977) is an American professional wrestler. He is best known for working with WWE under the ring names Mordecai and Kevin Thorn.
Fertig made his professional wrestling debut in 2000, and quickly began working for the Memphis Championship Wrestling promotion in his hometown, under the ring name Seven. There he won the Hardcore, Southern Tag Team and Southern Heavyweight Championships. He signed a contract with WWE in April 2002, and was assigned to their developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). He competed in OVW for two years, winning the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship with Travis Bane, before being called up to the SmackDown brand as Mordecai, a religious zealot. The character only lasted a few months, and he returned to OVW before being released in mid-2005.
He competed on the independent circuit for the next year, before returning to WWE to wrestle on its ECW brand as Kevin Thorn, a vampire character. He gained Ariel as a valet, and later joined the New Breed faction in early 2007. After Ariel was released in mid-2007, Thorn continued to wrestle on ECW, but was sent to OVW in late 2007, after undergoing an image change. He wrestled in both OVW and WWE's other developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling, until January 2009, when he was released from his contract. He then returned to the independent circuit, and also wrestled in Europe as Seven Thorn.

John doth not obscurely signify, saying, which have not yet received the kingdom, etc. For there is an Antithesis or opposition between these kings, and those that went before. And first the persons are described, in this verse, then their deeds in the two verses following.
Revelation 17:12 That is, arising with their kingdoms out of the Roman beast: at such time as that political Empire began by the craft of the Popes greatly to fall.
Revelation 17:12 Namely, with the second beast whom we called before a false prophet, which beast, ascending out of the earth got unto himself all the authority and power of the first beast, and exerciseth the same before his face, as was said, Rev. 14:11, 12. For when the political Empire of the West began to bow downwards, there both arose those ten kings, and the second beast took the opportunity offered to usurp unto himself all the power of the former beast. These kings long ago, many have numbered and described to be ten and a great part of the events plainly testifieth the same in this our age.
Revelation 17:13 That is, by consent and agreement, that they may conspire with the beast, and depend upon his beck. Their story is divided into three parts, counsels, acts, and events. The counselors some of them consist in communicating of judgments and affections: and some in communicating of power, which they are said to have given unto this beast in this verse.
Revelation 17:14 With Christ and his Church, as the reason following doth declare, and here are mentioned the facts and the events which followed for Christ’s sake, and for the grace of God the Father towards those that are called, elected, and are his faithful ones in Christ.
Revelation 17:15 This is the other member of the narration as I said verse 7, belonging unto the harlot, showed in the vision, verse 3. In this history of the harlot, these 3 things are distinctly propounded, what is her magnificence in this verse, what is her fall, and by whom it shall happen unto her, in the two verses following: and lastly, who that harlot is, in the last verse. This place which by order of nature should have been the first, is therefore made the last, because it was more fit to be joined with the next Chap.
Revelation 17:15 That is, as unconstant and variable as the waters. Upon this foundation sitteth this harlot as Queen, a vain person upon that which is vain.
Revelation 17:16 The ten Kings as verse 12. The accomplishment of this fact and event, is daily increased in this our age by the singular providence and most mighty government of God. Wherefore the facts are propounded in this verse, and the cause of them in the verses following.
Revelation 17:17 A reason rendered from the chief efficient cause, which is the providence of God, by which alone S. John by inversion of order affirmeth to have come to pass, both that the Kings should execute upon the harlot, that which pleased God, and which he declared in the verse next beforegoing: and also that by one consent and counsel, they should give their kingdom unto the beast, etc., verses 13, 14. For as these being blinded have before depended upon the beck of the beast that lifteth up the harlot, so it is said that afterward it shall come to pass, that they shall turn back, and shall fall away from her when their hearts shall be turned into better state by the grace and mercy of God.
Revelation 17:18 That is, Rome that great City, or only City (as Justinian calleth it) the King and head whereof was then the Emperor, but now the Pope, since that the condition of the beast was changed.
